Welcome to the Lothian and Edinburgh Amateur Football Association Website |
 |
|
The Association was formed in 1998 with the amalgamation of the Lothian Amateur F.A. and the Edinburgh Amateur F.A. The Association maintains a policy of affording everyone in the Edinburgh and Lothians the opportunity to play in organised competition at their own level. It is one of the largest Associations in Scotland now having over 100 member clubs and since the merger has been able to boast of having the Scottish Amateur Cup winners and the East of Scotland Cup winners.
The Lothian & Edinburgh AFA upholds the objects of amateur football to promote, foster and develop the game of Association football by offering both new and established clubs and their players the platform to perform at a level which suits them.
For Season 2009-10 the Association will operate a Saturday Section and a Sunday Section. The Saturday Section will have 6 divisions - Premier 1, Premier 2, Lothian West and Lothian East, Edinburgh West and Edinburgh East. The newly formed Sunday Section will have 3 divisions - Sunday Morning, Lothian West, and Lothian East and a particularly warm welcome is extended to all our new clubs playing on a Sunday. It is our hope that all our clubs and players enjoy their football whether or not they are successful.
The Association is proud to be sponsored by IME Ltd and are particularly grateful to Ian McDonald for this sponsorship. Ian is a keen supporter of amateur football and last season at short notice allowed Redhall Park to host the Jack Britton Rose Bowl International fixture between the Scottish Amateur FA and the Northern Ireland AFL and both parties were extremely grateful for the warm welcome extended by Ian and his colleagues for this prestigous fixture. Redhall Park was also used for 2 of our Cup Finals and the hospitality on each occasion was first class and the Association's thanks are extended to all at Redhall Star for the hard work put in to allow these Finals to go ahead.
Due to the increase in the number of clubs the Association is seeking to add to its list of referees. Any official interested in offering his/her services to this rapidly growing Association should contact Charles Gallacher on 01506 654974.
